Where the internet feels human again

We Are Made for Eternity by Fulton J. Sheen

Peace of mind is attained by those who are rightly anxious to attain the Perfect Happiness that is God. A soul is anxious because its final and eternal state has not yet been determined; it remains, always, at the crossroads of life. We cannot be cured of this fundamental anxiety by abandoning ourselves to passions and instincts; the fundamental cause of our anxiety is a restlessness in time because we are made for Eternity. If there were anywhere on earth a place of rest apart from God, the human soul, in its long history, would certainly have found it. St. Augustine said: “Our hearts are made for You, O Lord, and are restless until they rest in You”

(Fulton J. Sheen, from “The Peace of the Soul”)
