Where the internet feels human again
I have to say it: every time I pray the Way of the Cross, it never feels like “just another prayer.” There’s something that reaches me deep inside. Step by step, I feel like I’m really there, walking beside Jesus.
I often think of what Saint Paul of the Cross said: “The Passion of Jesus is the greatest and most wondrous work of divine love.” And the more I meditate on it, the more I realize it’s not something distant… it’s about me, my life, my struggles.
And Saint Alphonsus Liguori, who helped spread the Way of the Cross, wrote in his meditations: “My Jesus, through the merits of Your Passion, give me the grace to love You more and more.” It’s such a simple prayer, but it says everything.
For me, the Way of the Cross really helps me slow down, turn inward, and look at my own crosses differently. They don’t disappear, but they change. Because I understand that Someone has carried them before me… and is carrying them with me.
